Smoking Restrictions and Bans

A growing number of state and local governments are banning smoking not only in public places, like workplaces, restaurants and bars, but also in private places like apartment buildings.

People should be able to avoid being around secondhand smoke in places where they must go, such as public buildings, public transportation and many areas in the workplace. However, some smoking ban measures go too far.
